I got the envelope in the mail today.  The verdict - My BMI is 32.7 - I am officially obese and I am 42.3% fat.

*queue the anvil on my heart*

I'm dumbfounded.  5'8'', 215lbs.  42% fat. But I will be running 6.2 miles this Saturday without any problem.  42% fat and I will be in the gym in the morning doing leg presses and calf raises and squats with 100-200lbs. 42% fat and I can do things TODAY that I could not do over a year ago at 185lbs.

Athletically, I am in the best shape of my LIFE!!!!!  42% fat.

...that is all.  I am done. I can't even say I want to quit - I don't.  But - I am, indeed, a failure. A 42%, 32.7 BMI - big, fat ass failure.

((((((Mack Mama))))) you been at this thing a long time and you know better than to let an outside force determine your sucess of failure. You keep doing what you are doing and if you need to go harder go harder. Its how you look and feel that is the true test. If you keep you focus you will get wherever it is you are trying to go.....I am proud of you ....you are still taking care of buisness...

FKCU THAT FAILURE ****  Look at where you are now.  What you can do.  How much you've lost.  Where you were when you started.

You may not be where you'd like to be but you are a damned great success.  Keep working it.  You can bring that bmi and body fat % where you want them.  Or maybe with all you've accomplished you're already where you should be and 42% / 32.7 bmi are just numbers.

Should you decide stay as is or to get back into weight loss, don't downplay your accomplishments.  Wanting more or being content as is makes you no less of a success.   You done good.  Use the info but don't let it knock you down.

Maaannnnnnn - yea I look where I am now - and believe me, when I finish that 10K Saturday morning - it will be hands down the greatest athletic feat I've ever pulled off.  My daughter will get to see me cross the finish line, and get to see her mama NOT need medical assistance and a oxygen tank! lol the track I run laps around on the weekends is the same track I WALKED before surgery and was proud to do ONE lap walking a steady pace.  This past Sunday, I RAN 4 laps.

They aren't just numbers.  Those numbers got me qualified for WLS - they're not just numbers.  They DO mean something - back then, they meant EVERYTHING - they meant I could have a shot at a surgery that could save my life.  They are never just numbers.

I will do some serious thinking for a while - I'm not sure what's next

I can't help but agree that they are not just numbers.  They are the objective measures of our results.  I envy those who can dismiss the the numbers.  They mean everything to me too.

Damn, look how soon you are running a real 10k!   Make sure you get a picture crossing that finish line.  Numbers or not, thats real success in living life terms.

Mack, I agree with what everyone else has said. Your success is measured in more than the numbers on your scale and or scan.  It's measured in your healthy heart, lungs, blood pressure and blood sugar. It's measured in your fitness level and the level of joy you now feel being able to move and breathe. I absolutely REFUSE to measure myself by those standards anymore. You are a success!

Love is all there is, ever was or ever will be...
